Retaining and landscaping , Whitestone

This was a massive undertaking and was done in two main stages, the rear and front areas. One of our favourite jobs to date.

The concept was make the grounds more appealing and easier to use. This was done without creating too many straight lines and by trying to keep an organic feel to the structures. It included lowering the levels of the existing driveway, forming ramps, steps, pathways and beds for planting.

The work photo gallery shows before works started all the way through to completion and include concrete block retaining walls faced in stone, reclaimed York slab paving areas , steps and pathways,  Growan to finish the paths and driveway, hidden surface water drainage and services.

Triple carport and garage near Bantham

This project involved a large structural retaining wall , this was required as the ground was excavated well back into the hillside to make more space for the build .

The building is timber framed and the external block work is stone faced .

The large space over the carports and garage incorporated a decent sized games room , toilet and service area . Outside a large balcony deck was a great and useful addition .

Loft conversion in Exeter

Here we have a full size dorma roof extension . It converted a drafty roof space to a master bedroom with en-suite and is now a real feature at the property. Browse the pictures and see the work from start to finish .

The stairs where made on site and are alternative tread ‘space saver’ design , this minimizes the footprint of the stairway . The location of the stairs was the rear double bedroom and because of the design it allowed it to remain a double sized room .

Work was done within ‘permitted development’ as there are no neighbors or any public right of way at the rear of the house ( a useful point to remember whilst in the design process ) .

Features : space saver stairs , en-suite with large ‘walk in’ shower and ‘his and hers’ wash basins ,  french windows and small balcony .

Extension in Exeter

Firstly a 40+ sq/m ground floor extension in Exeter , built within ‘permitted development’ with no need for planning permission . Browse the pictures and see the transformation from before works started to the finished article .

Typical cavity brick and block walls  and lean-too hipped roof with plain tiles .

Includes 3 square metres of porch at the front , a double bedroom with en-suite ( shower / utility room ) built along the side of the house and large open plan kitchen diner at the rear.

The existing kitchen was removed along with a section of the rear wall to give access to the rear area of the extension . The original front and rear door positions where also changed . We also re-routed the sewer to avoid having a manhole inside .

Features : Velux roof windows , large panoramic window at rear , french doors , Indian limestone flooring , American black walnut worktop ,  oak shelves / skirtings / sills , lit recessed cupboards , external decking area with built in planter / bbq .

Previous works at this address  included a total renovation and renew throughout  including structural alterations and opening up of the lounge and ground floor , re-plastering and decoration  , new bathroom and central heating system .

Out front a small patio and stone retaining wall tidied up the area between the garden and house . There will be a few photos added to the gallery showing parts of these works soon .

Renovations , Whitestone

This 1930’s building was originally two houses and had been previously altered to form one large 4 bedroom house .

We made many more changes to the layout , including structural alterations and vastly improved all aspects of the building .

Works here were from top to bottom with just about everything imaginable upgraded and replaced  .

The work photo gallery includes a section of under pinning , structural alterations , heated floors , plastering , the chimney and  re-roof and a stained glass window .
